The agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and AI Joy Apps, the trading name of an independent studio run by its founder, for the Plateknow app for Android. On Google Play the app may be listed under the founder’s individual developer name; whichever name it appears under, AI Joy Apps is your counterparty. The privacy policy is part of these Terms. Your download and purchases are also subject to Google Play’s terms; Google is not a party to these Terms.
Who may use Plateknow
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf, including any purchase.
What Plateknow is
A photo food diary for Android 10 and later. You photograph or type in a meal, get an AI estimate of its calories and nutrients if you ask for one, answer a short check-in afterwards, and read your own records back as a timeline and recaps. There is no account.
Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Plateknow on Android devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and Google Play’s terms. The app, its name, design and software belong to AI Joy Apps or its licensors, and no other rights are granted.
Acceptable use
Use Plateknow lawfully and for yourself. You agree not to:
- reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- bypass or interfere with the free allowance, request signing, Play Integrity checks or any other protection;
- send automated or scripted requests to the estimate service, or use it outside the app;
- submit images you have no right to use, unlawful content, or photos of people;
- use the app or the estimate service to harm, harass or deceive anyone.
We may limit or suspend access to the estimate service for an install when use is abusive or puts the service at risk. Your journal stays on your phone and is not affected.
AI estimates
Estimates are produced by an AI model from a photo and can be wrong. Each one is labelled “Estimated by AI”, shown with a range, and can be corrected. We do not promise that any estimate is accurate or complete, and you should not rely on one where a precise figure matters. You can report a wrong or inappropriate estimate in the app; see AI estimates.
No medical advice
Plateknow is a food diary, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition, does not name any condition and never tells you what to eat. Nothing in the app is medical or dietary advice. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before acting on any figure. See the health disclaimer.
Your content
Your photos, notes and journal are yours. We claim no ownership of them. The food cut-out you send is processed only to return your estimate, and we do not use your photos or journal to train AI models. If you send us feedback, you allow us to use it to improve Plateknow without obligation to you.
Your journal is stored only on your phone. You are responsible for keeping a copy if you want one — export is free. If you delete the app or its data, we cannot recover it.
Free tier, Premium and subscriptions
Free. Plateknow is free to use with 10 AI estimates a day. Logging a meal by hand, check-ins, the timeline, the weekly recap and export are always free.
Premium. Premium adds month, quarter and year recaps and a higher fair-use limit on AI estimates. It is sold through Google Play as auto-renewing subscriptions: annual, with a 7-day free trial where offered, and monthly.
- Price. Prices are shown in the app, in your local currency, from Google Play, before you confirm. Taxes may apply as shown by Google Play.
- Payment. Google Play charges your Google Play payment method when you confirm the purchase or, for a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, for the same period, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Free trial. If you start the annual plan with a 7-day free trial and do not cancel before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid annual subscription and you are charged the annual price shown when you started. Trial eligibility is decided by Google Play.
- Cancelling. Open the Google Play Store app → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Plateknow → Cancel subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for or the end of the trial. Uninstalling the app does not cancel.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policies and the law where you live. We cannot issue refunds through the app, but if something went wrong, write to hello@plateknow.com and we will help.
- Price changes. If a price changes, Google Play tells you in advance and, where required, asks for your agreement before you are charged the new price.
- No account. Your subscription is recognised through the Google account you bought it with.
Premium features may change as the app develops. If we remove something you are paying for, we will say so before the change so you can cancel. Nothing in these Terms limits cancellation or refund rights you have under the law of your country.
Availability
Logging, check-ins, the timeline and recaps work on your phone without us. The estimate service is an online service and may sometimes be unavailable; we do not promise it will be available at any particular time. When it is down, you can still type a meal in.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using Plateknow at any time by uninstalling it — cancel any subscription in Google Play first. We may suspend or end your licence if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the app. Your journal stays on your phone either way. Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, disclaimers, liability and governing law — continue to apply.
Disclaimers and liability
Plateknow is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for loss of data, profits or goodwill, or for decisions made on the basis of an estimate, a figure or a recap in the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of what you paid for Plateknow in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law of your country gives you.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the Taiwan Pingtung District Court is the court of first instance for any dispute arising from them. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence are unaffected.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Changes to these Terms
The date at the top is the last change. If a change materially affects what you pay for or what you may do with the app, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
